Tooth Whitening
What is tooth whitening?
Tooth whitening can be highly effective, yet very simple way, of lightening the colour of teeth without removing any of the tooth surface. it cannot make a colour change, but lightens the existing colour. What does the procedure involve? In a live tooth the dentist applies the whitening product using a specially made tray which fits into the mouth like a gum shield. First of all you will need a visit to the dentist for impressions to make a gum shield. At the second appointment the dentist will fit the gum shield and explain how to carry out the whitening at home. How long does it take? Once you start the procedure at home you can either wear the gum shield daily for 30 minutes - an hour at a time, the procedure will then take 2 - 4 weeks. The more popular way is to wear the gum shield over night for up to 8 hours, the procedure will then only take as little as 7 - 10 days. How long will the whitening last? Treatment results vary depending on the original shade of teeth. Teeth will tend to darken slightly over time. The effect lasts for around 1 -3 years, although sometimes it can last longer. Some people find that their teeth are sensitive for the first few days after treatment but this wear off after a short while. How much does it cost?
